LEADER SYSTEMS ARE AN NSI GOLD APPROVED FIRE
ALARM COMPANY….WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
NSI Gold… The National Security Inspectorate (NSI)
has been the UK's leading inspectorate for the security industry for
over thirty years. As an independent, not-for-profit organisation,
NSI is the champion of high standards across the security and fire
industries. Companies achieving approval through NSI must comply
with relevant British and European Standards as well as meeting the
requirements of the police, fire authorities and the insurance
industry.
NSI’s premier scheme (Gold) is for companies who
consistently meet the industry’s highest standards through ISO9000
Quality Management as well as the relevant British and European
Standards. Companies choose this route to demonstrate that their
business is run in a professional manner and operating to the
highest standards.
With concerns over the increasing cost of
fire, Government Regulations are tightening up in order to provide a
safer environment. For businesses, the onus is on the employer or
their representatives to provide appropriate fire prevention and
detection solutions to protect staff and visitors alike. All
businesses must complete a Fire Risk Assessment. As part of this
process, evidence must be provided to the authorities (preferably
through certification) to prove that fire prevention systems have
been designed, installed, commissioned and maintained to the
required standards, otherwise employers could be prosecuted.
This is where the NSI Fire Scheme comes in. NSI
inspects companies to the BAFE Fire Protection Industry Modular
Scheme SP203, which allows NSI approved companies to issue
appropriate fire certificates.
Leader Systems have full BAFE approval – what does
this mean to you?
The BAFE SP203 Modular Scheme was written and
developed by a board of stakeholders drawn from all quarters of the
industry (local authorities, fire brigades, government and industry)
and chaired by the British Fire Protection Systems Agency. It was
four years in development before being launched in July 2002.
The scheme has been split into four modules. The
intention of this is to ensure that a company only gains recognition
for the area in which it is competent. The four modules are:-
BAFE’s objectives are to provide a means by which
fire protection system users and regulatory bodies searching for
confidence can be sure that any company offering to provide the
design, commissioning, handover and maintenance of a system will
have the processes in place to effectively undertake the work.
Like other BAFE schemes a certificate is the basis
upon which confidence can be built. At the end of each modular stage
a certificate is issued by the BAFE registered company. This means
that should four separate companies be used, then four separate
certificates would be required. However as Leader Systems is fully
"Gold Approved" then only a single certificate is required, relating
to all modules.
Clearly whether you are an end user, a specifier or
installer, then there are huge benefits to be had by using a company
with third party approval, an approval recognised by local
authorities, insurance companies and government bodies. Take all the
benefits by allowing Leader Systems to deliver to you a fully
compliant fire detection system, from initial design, right through
to on-going maintenance.
